First opened to tourists in August 2016, the Tra Ang Valley is a haven for exploring nature, offering a variety of activities like swimming in caves, kayaking, and taking in the scenery of the mountains and forests. If you can’t complete an extensive jungle hike, but still want to explore the hidden corners of the national park, this full-day jungle hike is the way to go.
This magnificent resurgence cave, which bears the name of the Tra Ang River, can be found by traveling along Highway 20 from Son Trach to the Laos border.
A path that travels 700 meters upstream through leech country ends at a massive cliff where a river emerges from a sizable cave entrance.
The main passage of the cave, which is only 667 meters long, ends in a slump.
The majority of the Phong Nha water is found in the main river passage.
The main passage is almost entirely submerged in water.
The cave’s upper levels near the entrance lead to balconies, and another entrance that was a flood overflow from the main passage was discovered.
Swimming in the darkness of Tra Ang Cave, one of Phong Nha’s most beautiful river caves, kayaking on the river, and enjoying a delicious BBQ lunch served by a local porter is a fun weekend getaway activity to do with friends.

This expedition is probably the most challenging adventure in Vietnam. No other trek in Vietnam has done cave abseil so far, so this is an interesting adventure to challenge yourself. This trek is NOT for everyone, but for most people who are passionate at conquering the top of adventure for a life-time experience. It is an awesome combination of jungle hiking, rock scrambling, swimming cave, underground camping and abseiling. You will explore the whole system of Tiger Cave including Pygmy cave (recognized as the fourth largest cave in the world with huge entrance which is 100m tall and wide), hang Over cave and Tiger cave. These three caves used to be one long cave which was divided by the dolines known as sinkhole or collapse.
Notes:
– As this is a very challenging adventure which requires a lot of caving technique, safety training provided by Jungle Boss safety expert will be required before setting off for the jungle.
