With a height of 3046m, Ky Quan San Peak, also known by the lovely name Bach Moc Luong Tu among hikers, is the fourth-highest mountain in Vietnam, behind Fansipan, Putaleng, and Pusilung.

Ky Quan San, which forms the natural border between the provinces of Lai Chau and Lao Cai, has drawn the interest of those who love to travel and explore beautiful and wild ecosystems.

Conquering Ky Quan San is a great physical and mental challenge. To reach the summit, you have to walk about 30 km through a variety of terrain, including barren hills, bamboo groves, large forests, dwarf bamboo groves and steep moss-covered cliffs.

The ideal time to conquer Bach Moc Luong Tu is during the dry season. The journey starts in the 1,000-meter-high village of Ky Quan San, passing through a forested area rich in flora and fauna and wading along the banks of a cool stream. Reach the campsite at a height of 2,100 meters. Unwind and enjoy the magnificent sunset.

It was so nice to sit by the campfire and enjoy a hot cup of tea and watch the magical mountain night sky where millions of twinkling stars seemed to fall before our eyes before we fell asleep.

Wake up early the next morning to enjoy the stunning views of mount Muoi and watch the warm sunshine break through the early morning mist. This 3,000-meter-high mount Muoi is the most beautiful place to watch the sunset and sunrise on the way to the top of Ky Quan San.

Begin the second day’s trek with a light backpack and make your way to the top of Ky Quan San peak.

The climb to the summit of Bach Moc Luong Tu is the most difficult part of the journey, with steep slopes that require strength and endurance. On the way, you can enjoy the breathtaking scenery with a sea of clouds from the peak at an altitude of 2,800m.

At 3,045 meters above sea level, the entire range of the Bach Moc Luong Tu Mountain range is billowed with white clouds, enveloping the towering peaks of the central northwest. This fairytale scene rewards visitors after fighting through the jungle and climbing steep cliffs.

A herbal bath at the nearby Red Dao and a night at the Silk Path Sapa resort will ease your exhaustion at the end of the journey.

The following morning, before bidding Sapa farewell and departing for Hanoi, take your time to stroll through the flower gardens and snap plenty of photos of this beautiful castle.
